Quiet, two ways to recharge. I have a very large lawn and it works fine. During this rainy season the grass tends to grow quickly and long and the mower needs to be pushed slower than with a regular gas mower. However, mulches great. Easy to start, no messing with fuel, oil, etc.

Made the decision to switch to a cordless electric mower for environmental reasons, and I don't regret it. This model seemed the best overall value. Having used it seven or eight times now, I have mixed feelings. I love how easy it is to start: plug in the battery and pull a lever gently - effortless. The battery seems to recharge reasonably quickly, and has not run out before completing my lawn (45-60 mins). It's easy to handle, and overall an effective machine.

On the downside, it struggles with longer grass, to the point where I have to mow my lawn slightly more often than I would like. When it faces grass with more than a few days growth, or when the height setting is low, the blade is slowed considerably by the grass, and virtually stops. You have to keep raising the front end of the mower to get the blade back up to speed. When you do this, the mulching doesn't work well. So if you're the kind of person who procrastinates about mowing your lawn and lets the grass get a little long, this type of mower may not be for you. The lower the battery charge gets, the more this seems to be an issue. This ends up producing a bit of an uneven cut. Now that I've figured this out, I can get a nice, even, well-mulched cut by using a higher setting or mowing more frequently. (Not sure what I'll do when I get back from a two week vacation and need to mow my lawn, though.)

Also, the rubber sleeve which cushions the grip on the handlebars is very flimsy and tears easily, with the slightest brush against a fence etc. Not a big defect, but annoying all the same.

I looked at all the Battery Powered mower reviews for a week ...Black and Decker (no removable battery) , Worx (Expensive and plastic), Neuton (Expensive & small blade cutting diameter) etc. I chose Earthwise because of its reviews and solid metal construction and of course the removable battery . The Earthwise is American made and has a metal deck and is just built very well. Its over 90 lbs but very easy to push. It was easy to assemble and I charged the battery overnight and it was ready to go in the morning. Now, my grass was very high at first , probably 6 inches or so . When I first started with the Earthwise it did get bogged down in the high grass but after I raised the blade a bit, no problem and it cut right through everything, then the next time I mowed my lawn I was able to lower the blade and cut the grass short. By the way, the lever to raise ALL four wheels at the same time is fantastic! It mulched or bagged very well. I have about 1/3 of acre and the battery lasted plenty long enough to do the job. By the way the battery is very heavy so if you take it out the lawn mower , the mower is light enough to lift if you need to. Its, quiet, easy to start, powerful for being battery powered, easy to push and the battery will last long enough for most lawns. If you are confused as to which battery powered model to buy, you can't go wrong with the Earthwise.

We just love it! Easy to start and don't have to worry about having a diffucult time re-starting it if we have to stop for any reason. My husband really likes how he doesn't have to worry abuot gas or oil spilling when he has to clean the underside of mower. Is quiet and cuts grass wonderfully. We feel we've made a good investment.

I purchased this mower based on the good reviews, and the fact that my old, 20 year old mower, was burning oil and generally not performing as well as I'd like it.

Personally, I'm a big fan of electric motors and other battery run items for the home (as opposed to gas), not for any green environmental reason, but because they tend to be much easier to maintain, and can be better for a given application than a gas driven motor. Since I have a relatively small lawn, this seemed like a good purchase.

I received the mower, unpacked it, and charged it up per the directions with no problems. Tried out all the accessories, and they were easy enough to put on and take off. Went out and mowed the lawn. My impressions were that the motor generated more than enough torque to do the job. It was a little heavy for moving around, and I personally did not like the start lever -- it felt cheap and loose to me. I would have preferred that the start level be a bit more solid. Compared to the old mower (even with the old mower having a sharpened blade) it did a fairly nice job with the lawn.

After finishing, I cleaned the unit off, and plugged the unit in to recharge, initially, it seemed to be working correctly. I went out to do some trimming, and when I returned, I noticed the charger flashing a red light at me (which I assume means there was a problem, it wasn't detailed in the manual as to what exactly it means). Overnight, it failed to charge the battery, so I called the provided number, talked to some people who didn't really seem to know what they were doing, and eventually was told to bring it to location x for service.

I bring it over there and drop it off. During the next three weeks, nothing can get accomplished. Essentially, the people at location x have to call the Earthwise people to get the parts to perform warrantee work, except the Earthwise people never seem to respond. I talked with the owner of location x, and he said that it was always like that with Earthwise. I called another location from the Earthwise web site (nearby) and they essentially said the same thing.

Fortunately, I was lucky and still had the old mower to do mowing with. I ended up returning this to Amazon as defective, as, even if it could be fixed, I wouldn't want to be relying on this product as my sole mower, based on the repair experience. Heck, even I can take apart a lawn mower gas engine and repair most things in a day (assuming I can find any part I might need.) Grass doesn't stop growing while your mower is in the shop, and three weeks+ would have been a debacle if this were my only mower!

Again, my issues aren't with the mower itself, just that if it should break, you will probably have difficulty getting it repaired quickly, and I can't recommend the mower (or any Earthwise product) based on that.

If you do get the mower, one thing that I did discover was that if you remove the battery pack, it makes the rest of the mower much easier to handle (such as for unpacking, or lifing into the back of a vehicle for transport, or lifting back into the box to send back :-) ). I did like the design where the battery was self enclosed, and simply plugs into the mower.

What a great piece of hardware. This mower works great for my lawn. It was easy to assemble. The only difference between using this mower and a regular gas-powered one is the sound.

I am moving into a smaller home and decided to start cutting my own grass. The hassle of gasoline, oil, mixing them, engine repairs, and just having gas around the garage were turnoffs to me. However, the idea of dragging a cord around behind me, using an electric mower, was almost worse.

So I began to search for a cordless product, and ran across this mower. The Earthwise product was the cheapest with the mostest, so I opted for it. Even tho Amazon lowered the price almost 10% since I bought mine (arrrgh!!), I am happy. It mows my average sized yard, and there is some very thick fescue in the front yard, with the greatest of ease. I finished my yard in about 45 minutes, and this puppy has power to spare. I've used it 4 times and have never even come close to running out of power.

I highly recommend this unit. Can't attest to its longevity, obviously, but am delighted so far.

I am very pleased with this lawn mower. My son who now cuts the grass all the time thinks it is great too. I originaly bought it for myself. At first I thought it was a little pricey. Let me tell you it is worth every penny. You don't mind paying a fair price for a good product. This is a good product. I am quite happy with my purchase.

I bought this about a month ago, so I've mowed my lawn about half a dozen times with it now. All in all, I've been very pleased--it was simple to set up, easy to charge and runs pretty much like my old gas-powered mower. The battery doesn't last forever, but lasts about 45 minutes to an hour for me, which is long enough to get through my entire lawn, if I choose to do it all at once. About the only downside to the mower is that it's a little heavy; it takes more effort to move it around and turn it in those inevitable short and awkward runs we all have somewhere in our lawns. But that's the tradeoff for the convenience of no longer having to mess with filling up the gas can, or pulling the rope to start the engine. Now it's easy--just plug it in, and the next day you turn it on and go. I'd have to say, this is the future of lawnmowing, at least until the robomowers get cheaper.

After spending a good amount of time researching lawn mowers, I chose the earthwise and I'm not at all sorry. The price was by far the best when compared to other cordless units and the operation is a breeze. I have a fairly large size lawn for this type of mower and I'm able to mow the front and back on one charge with some battery life left over. My 12 and 14 year old boys can easily use it and I don't have to worry about them messing with gasoline etc. I highly recommend it.
